Crawl Space Encapsulation System in Missouri

Crawl Space Repair in MissouriAny vented or unconditioned crawl space under your home is a bad idea, especially if you have a dirt floor. Even if the crawl space is not wet or flooded, it can be both unhealthy and destructive.

Soil has a naturally high humidity. This moisture spreads from your crawl space and up into the rest of your house. When your crawl space is damp, mold multiplies rapidly and releases millions of spores into the air, heating and air conditioning costs are higher (especially if it is a vented crawlspace), and rot and decay can cause structural damage.

Houses have a natural, bottom-to-top airflow. As air rises within the home it sucks in new air from the crawl space or basement and pushes exhaust air out of the upper levels. This means that mold spores and odors are pulled from your crawl space and into the rest of your house. There are a large number of people who have suffered from allergies for years not knowing that their crawl space is to blame.

Prevent Mold and Musty OdorIn the summer, warm humid air enters your crawl space and dumps its excess humidity in the form of condensation on your air conditioning conduits, water tank and anything else cool. Not only does this add to the moisture problem, but the outside air also warms those ducts and forces your air conditioner to work harder to cool your home. The opposite is true in the winter, with cold air making your heater warm the ducts before the hot air gets to your living spaces.

There is, however, a solution to all these problems. Basement Systems, the world leader in dry basement and crawl space technology, developed the CleanSpace System to address all these issues.

The CleanSpace Crawl Space Encapsulation System
Instead of trying to bring in outside air to "fix" the humidity problem, the CleanSpace system completely isolates your home from the ground. This causes humidity in your crawl space to drop dramatically. By lowering the moisture in the air, mold growth can be reduced or even eliminated, and rot can be avoided.

CleanSpace is a heavy, 20-mil-thick material, like a pool liner but to keep water out. There are seven layers combining a high-density polyethylene, low-density polyethylene, and two layers of polyester-cord reinforcement. Because the finished side is white, CleanSpace brightens your crawl space and lets you quickly see that it is free of mold, insects and dirt. Another advantage to the quality of the liner is the toughness - it is easily strong enough to crawl on and store things in your crawl space. Along the same lines, workmen can crawl on it without you being worried they will poke holes or tear the material. After installation, CleanSpace completely stops moisture penetration.
