Wet Basements

Why Do Basements Leak?

Water in the soils leaking into basements is a problem. This water will enter the basement through the walls, floors, and joints between them. Over the years, contractors have developed a wide variety of methods to keep basements dry. Some of these methods are more effective than others.

Drain failure is a common cause of basement leaks. One of the most common reasons for leaking basements is footing drain failure. Once this drain is clogged it no longer moves the water away from your structure. This water builds hydrostatic pressure around your foundation and pushes the water into the basement through cracks, joints, and typically the floor-wall joint.

One of the best methods is to install an interior baseboard drainage system along the perimeter of the floor which overcomes the problem of the drain from being clogged by mud over the years.

Another challenge is to set up the system to accept water from the walls without leaving a large unsightly gap at the edge of the floor which can collect dirt and debris from the floor - another potential for clogging the drain.

We have solutions to solve this problem with
patented systems from Basement Systems.
